About Me

Welcome to Better Version of Me.  I am a freethinker trying to find ways to improve my life and the lives of those around me through healthy eating and creating a healthy home. My hobbies are slow/local foods, gardening, cooking, sewing, hiking, yoga, reading, and random acts of kindness. I strive to lower my footprint on this world and live green. Recycle, Reuse, Reduce!

My Oily Journey:
I started my journey to eliminate harmful substances from my household and life in the mid 1990s.  I was living in the Virgin Islands on the beautiful island of St. John.  I met many people there who were "crunchy" and by the time I moved back to the states, I considered myself a "granola girl".  I also started my essential oil journey while there.  A friend introduced me to Tea Tree oil to relieve the itch from mosquito bites. (The mosquitoes there are huge and numerous!)  I also work in a boutique shop that carried numerous oils, but they were mostly for aromatherapy.

When I became pregnant with my daughter in 2001, I started seeing a midwife and she recommened numerous oils to support my pregnancy: peppermint to help with morning sickness, and for during labor, Clarey Sage and Lavender.

I moved back to the states in 2004.  Because I had a toddler who was constantly putting things in her mouth, I starting to really pay attention to what I was using for cleaning.  I tried numerous natural cleaners and gradually started making my own so that I had control of the ingredients.  I also gradually starting using more oils and being concerned with the quality.

I thought I was using high quality oils until a friend introduced me to Young Living in 2016.  I bought a starter kit and never looked back.  I could tell right away the quality was better then the other brands I had been buying and I have never gone back.  I now use many other Young Living products and I tell you, it feels great to know that I have greatly reduced the amount of harmful substances use in my home!
